The Better Together Badge.
To earn the "Better Together" badge the applicant must start/join a band through our "SM Collaborate" program and stick with that band for a year - through thick and thin.
The purpose of this badge is to encourage our students to connect and work with other musicians. It will give them the experience of collaboration, co-writing, arranging, band politics, stage craft and so much more. Ultimately it will teach help them grow in the skill and art of working with other musicians.
Find Your People
- Ask some folks if they would like to start a band with you, or find an established band and see if they are looking for more members. Put a shoutout on your social media and see who comes back to you. You can also approach the desk at SM and we will help you find people.
- When you have found some people to work with, make sure you are all committed for the year and have an open mind to work together through the ups and downs.
- Book a time with SM for the rehearsals to run.
Embrace The Experience
- Be fully ready to embrace the experience.
- Don't be a diva, be a team player and focus both on your playing and your communication with your fellow musicians.
- Take ownership by learning your parts and suggesting songs to learn, whilst also learning songs that other band mates suggest.
Carry It Forward
- At the end of each season make a one page list of all the things you have done, learnt and experienced in your band - good, bad and ugly.

- Consider sticking with the band and keeping on creating together!
